The next installment of the popular All-Star Weekend, from 22nd to 24th August 2025, will feature Nile University, Gboko City Chiefs, Hotcoal Basketball Foundation, and others.
Abuja, Nigeria – Following more than 12 years of programming, including the popular Crown Elite Basketball Championship, Crown Elite Sports is proud to announce its first-ever event in Abuja, Nigeria. West Africa’s top basketball clubs and most noteworthy players will face off during Crown Elite’s All-Star festivities at Mo Arena Sports Hall, Abuja, Nigeria, from 22nd to 24th August 2025.
Widely known as “Nigeria’s most beloved sports management organization,” Crown Elite Sports was founded by ex-international player Hanson Oguche in 2013 to maximize the potential of talented youth athletes and professional players. Through sporting championships, player development programs, and educational counseling, Crown Elite’s championship events aim to become the most renowned national and international forum for showcasing talented African athletes.
“We are truly excited to bring the Crown Elite All-Star event to Nigeria’s vibrant capital city, Abuja. This edition promises to be thrilling, as it not only celebrates the heart of basketball in our nation but also emphasizes the importance of education among athletes, highlighting and honoring both past and present collegiate basketball players. Education remains the key to athletes’ success on and off the court. The event is designed to inspire excellence while recognizing the outstanding achievements of players, officials, and all stakeholders in Nigerian basketball,” said Hanson Oguche, president of Crown Elite Sports, organizers of the All-Star competition and awards.
Nigeria University Games basketball champions Nile University and Nigeria’s top premiership basketball team, Gboko City Chiefs, are set to debut at the Crown Elite All-Star Weekend and Awards. Other top basketball clubs participating include Hotcoal Basketball Foundation, which is the key event sponsor, along with several others. Oceanic and Sahel Conference Co-Ed All-Star select teams will compete for honors.
Dr. Ubong Udo, founder of Hotcoal Basketball Foundation, expressed excitement about partnering with Crown Elite Sports to showcase and empower athletes, aligning with the objectives of his organization.
The Sahel Conference Men’s All-Star team will be coached by Hamza Abubakar (Head Coach, Nile University), while the Oceanic Conference team will be coached by 2024 NBA Basketball Africa League Coach of the Year, Ogoh Odaudu (National Team Coach & Head Coach, Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club).
The Crown Elite All-Star Weekend will also feature fan favorites such as the slam dunk and three-point shooting contests. Crown Elite will host an invite-only VIP Awards Presentation on 24th August 2025. This event aims to showcase and celebrate the best players, coaches, technical officials, and stakeholders in Nigerian basketball.
